My friend and I waited for around an hour to watch the most controversial film in the 14th French Film Festival, Michael Haneke’s Le Pianiste (The Piano Teacher). The film which was almost banned by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board was only allowed to be shown on a condition that it will be screened only once.
We waited in line. But with all luck deserting us, we’re the 251st and 252nd in line. And it felt so bad. Now I know why Olympic Bronze medalists are more satisfied and happier than silver medalists. Having almost reached the end but not actually getting to seize it is one of the most painful experiences one can have.
